" The ‘Seatrade Personality of the Year Award’, recognizing an exceptional individual contribution to the industry in the region over the previous 12 months, went to Kenneth Koo, Group Chairman & Chief Executive Officer, Tai Chong Cheang Steamship Co.

Mr. Koo, who took over the reins of his family’s shipping business in 2005 after 22 years in the industry, has been instrumental in the development of improved vessel designs through his collaboration with a number of organizations.

Mr. Koo commented: “The maritime industry has always been a huge part of my life; I grew up in a shipping family and have been working in the industry for more than two decades. I was very lucky to have been mentored by such inspirational people from my late father through to my uncles and other business associates; they have taught me so much. I truly love the shipping industry and am honoured to be here tonight.” "
